About Your Team

Join our dynamic Web Initiatives Team at the heart of Canada’s economy. As a student Web Developer, you'll be part of an agile (scrum) team consisting of developers, designers, and content specialists. Our team values innovation and open communication, and makes significant contributions to the Bank of Canada's web presence.

 

What You Will Do
As a member of the Web Initiatives Team, you will play an important role in enhancing the usability of the Bank’s web applications and websites. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating on the development of web-based products
  • Writing clean code in PHP and JavaScript
  • Supporting both back-end and front-end development efforts

 

You'll have the chance to contribute to the evolution of the Bank's digital platforms and gain valuable hands-on experience.

 

What You Need to Succeed

We're seeking creative individuals who thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy overcoming challenges. Your experience in web development should include:

  • Hands-on experience with PHP, particularly in developing and maintaining WordPress sites, themes and plugins.
  • Proficiency in CSS and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with various web frameworks and libraries, such as Laravel.
  • Solid understanding and experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL.
  • Experience with iterative web development and test-driven development.
  • Automated testing using PHPUnit, Behat and Selenium.
  • Knowledge of version control systems such as SVN and Git.

 

Your Education and Experience 
You must be currently enrolled at a college or university (undergraduate level) on a full or part-time basis, pursuing a degree in computer studies, engineering, web development, or a related field. Additionally, you must be returning to school in the next academic term.

  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
  • Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Reliability

Remote work / Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office. For this position, should you not live within reasonable commuting distance of the office, you will be able to work 100% remote (within Canada) for the duration of this term.

 

What you can expect from us

  • Salary $27.08 hourly (job grade Student C).
