Preference will be given to candidates in Toronto or Montreal, with consideration for Ottawa if required. The selected candidate must be able to travel between these cities, and relocation assistance may be available.

 

What you will do
As the Director of Quality & Data Management, you will:

 

Lead quality management for bank notes:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance strategies for bank note production, distribution, and lifecycle management.
  • Oversee quality control systems, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives across internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics, trends, and risks to senior leadership

 

Strengthen data governance and analytics:

  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide data governance frameworks for currency-related data, aligned with the Data and Digital Services teams.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across systems and platforms.
  • Lead initiatives to improve data quality, promote standardization, and ensure effective data management.
  • Deploy advanced analytics to generate new business insights into bank note production, processing, and circulation.
  • Partner with analytics and IT teams to enable data-driven insights that support operational efficiency and strategic planning.

 

Provide leadership and collaboration:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across print production, IT, operations, and product development.
  • Deliver actionable recommendations based on data analysis and quality insights to guide decision-making, resolve issues, and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, compliance, and performance.

 

What you need to succeed:

Proven leadership and experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership in quality assurance and data management, ideally within manufacturing, financial services, or regulated environments.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners to achieve strategic goals.

 

Expertise in quality and data management:

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues, consider multiple perspectives, and ensure careful analysis drives decision-making.
  • Ability to think innovatively, remove constraints, experiment, take calculated risks, monitor results, and adapt as needed.

 

Interpersonal and communication skills:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration among internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Assets: 

  • Knowledge of the Bank’s functions, policies and internal communications objectives.
  • Knowledge of data frameworks, data architecture, data warehousing, and integration platforms.
  • Knowledge of and experience in bank note design and production; knowledge of bank note equipment and single note inspection.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a range of scientific instruments/equipment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 certification standards.

 

Education and experience:
This position requires a post-secondary degree in relevant field (i.e. physical or data sciences / engineering) and a minimum of seven years of experience managing teams or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French.  The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional).  If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Training may be provided to help reach the required level.  Both bilingual and unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $174,197 to $204,938 (job grade 20)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
