About the opportunity

Ready to apply your economics or finance studies to meaningful work? Our Economics and Finance student placements offer an opportunity to support research and analysis that helps inform Canada’s economic and financial systems.

 

As a student, you will work alongside economists, analysts and supervisors, contributing to projects that explore complex economic, financial and paymentsrelated issues. Through this experience, you will deepen your understanding of Canada’s central bank, apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, and gain handson experience that complements your academic studies.

 

Placements vary and may include opportunities in areas such as:

  • Research Assistance
  • Data Analysis

 

Assignments are aligned with organizational needs while providing students with meaningful exposure to applied research and analytical work.

 

 

Eligibility

To be considered, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a college or university program related to economics, finance or a similar field (undergraduate level)
  • Be returning to school in your next academic term

 

What you need to succeed

We’re seeking students who are curious, analytical and motivated. Candidates demonstrate:

  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • A proactive problem‑solving mindset
  • Comfort using business software (e.g., Microsoft Office)

 

Innovative Mindset

We value candidates who demonstrate adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to learn new technologies, including AI and digital tools. We seek individuals who can think critically about data, question existing processes, and find ways to simplify our work while embracing change and new ways of doing things. 

 

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. Although the position language requirement is English or French essential, we do encourage everyone to improve their second language proficiency for future career growth and to contribute towards fostering a bilingual environment.

Remote work / Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office. For this position, should you not live within reasonable commuting distance of the office, you will be able to work 100% remote (within Canada) for the duration of this term.
