About the position 
We are seeking an experienced Application Automation Test Lead to join our Retail Payments Supervision team!  We are a collaborative and diverse team within ITS with the mission to carry out the roadmap of an effective regulatory IT platform to meet the requirements of the Bank of Canada’s role in supervising payment service providers (PSPs). We are also beginning work on two new mandates: Stable Coin and Consumer-driven Banking.  
  
Lead by the Director of the Retail Payments Supervision portfolio, you will join a dynamic and highly skilled team working together to design, develop, and support our regulatory IT platform built on the Power Platform. 
  
Further, you will have the full support of your leader and teammates to enhance your skills, experiment, and further your career through our customizable Learning & Development programs across various domains (IT, Programming, Architecture, Analytics, etc.) and relevant certifications. 
 

 

What you will do 

As Application Testing Lead, specializing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and test automation, you will be responsible for defining and implementing the overall quality assurance (QA) strategy, framework design, and test execution across the Dynamics 365 platform and integrated Azure services. You will lead all QA activities for Supervisory Application areas, including manual, automation, and integration testing, among others. Your leadership will help shape best practices and continuous improvement in QA processes.  

 

Core Responsibilities 

  • End-to-End Execution: Own the execution of the testing strategy for D365/Azure integrations, ensuring all work aligns with our project-wide quality standards. 
  • Advanced Automation: Build, maintain, and scale a comprehensive suite of functional, integration, contract, and E2E API tests. 
  • Pipeline Optimization: Implement and manage quality gates within CI/CD and PR workflows. You will be responsible for parallelizing test suites, enforcing coverage, and managing flaky test detection. 
  • Observability & Triage: Use logs, metrics, and traces to diagnose failures quickly. You’ll provide the team with fast, reproducible bug reports that include root-cause insights. 
  • Collaborative Quality: Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, refine acceptance criteria, and pair with developers to ensure "quality-by-design" is a reality, not just a goal. 
  • Standard Setting: Maintain clear, concise guidelines for local and CI testing. You will promote the use of consistent patterns and reusable test components across the team. 
  • What you need to succeed  
  • Experience in QA automation or software development, specifically focused on integrated, high-availability systems. 
  • Technical Deep-Dive: Proven experience testing D365 (CRM) connected to Azure services. 
  • Automation Toolkit: Hands-on mastery of Playwright and Postman for production-grade API and UI automation. 
  • DevOps Savvy: Strong familiarity with Azure DevOps, including integrating tests into release pipelines and managing automated environment provisioning. 
  • Communication: A track record of clear documentation and the ability to mentor junior team members on testability and best practices. 

 

 

Your education and experience  

This position requires a bachelor's degree or college diploma in computer science, software development or a relevant field and a minimum of 7+years of experience in applications development and systems integration, or  

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Language requirement

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues.     • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $126,765 to $149,135 (job grade 18)
    • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

    • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
