What you will do
We are seeking a Senior Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems. You will play a key role in maintaining our infrastructure, optimizing our processes, and contributing to the overall health of our services.
More specifically, you will:
- Monitor the availability and performance of production systems, ensuring high reliability.
- Develop and implement automation tools and scripts to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
- Lead incident response efforts, troubleshoot issues, and implement postmortem analyses to drive continuous improvement.
- Work closely with development teams to ensure that new features are designed for reliability and scalability.
- Analyze system performance metrics and identify bottlenecks, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in infrastructure as code (IaC) initiatives, managing provisioning and configuration using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Ensure security policies and practices are followed, contributing to a culture of security awareness.
- Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, processes, and incidents for knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in site reliability engineering.
What you need to succeed
You are an experienced developer and can be an agent of change to encourage others to adopt good practices. You also have an ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas, identify, and understand requirements, and develop alternate solutions.
Further, your core interpersonal and communication skills will be invaluable as you collaborate with the various support groups and technology partners.
In addition, you have:
- 4+ years’ experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or a related field
- Some proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and container orchestration (OpenShift, AKS).
- Strong scripting and programming skills (Python, Go, etc.).
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.) and version control (Git).
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Dynatrace, SCOM, Splunk, Riverbed).
- Application development knowledge and familiar with programming language such as, JavaScript, Java, .NET and SQL
Assets
- Experience with application performance monitoring.
- Experience with network performance monitoring.
Your education and experience
Your combined education and work experience demonstrate that you have the competencies and skills for the position. We are ideally seeking candidates with seven (7) + years of relevant experience.
Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. Although the position language requirement is English or French essential, we do encourage everyone to improve second their language proficiency for future career growth and to contribute towards fostering a bilingual environment.

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $108,874 to $128,087 (job grade 17)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
