What you will do 

The Building Systems Specialist performs a wide range of skilled technical tasks to ensure the continuous operations of building systems within a high-availability (HA) facility, supporting  the Bank's mission-critical applications and computing environment. The role operates within a structured framework designed to maintain a fully redundant, highly available, mission critical facility.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities and Client Services you are responsible for maintaining , operating and monitoring chillers, water pumps, treatment systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), uninterrupted power supply (UPS), generators, fire suppression systems, and other building systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards.

 

As part of a dynamic team providing 24/7 coverage, the Building Systems Specialist works a rotating shift schedule to support uninterrupted operations.  

 

 

In addition, you will:

  • Monitor electrical and mechanical systems including the Building Automation System (BAS)
  • Follow change management procedures to plan and carry-out work safely and effectively
  • Support the installation, repair and upgrade of electrical, and HVAC systems to ensure continuous operations of critical systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in collaboration with team members and external experts
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, internal clients and external partners to support operational goals.

 

What you need to succeed

As a Building Systems Specialist, you are a collaborative team player, effective communicator, self-motivated contributor, and innovative problem solver who adapts well to change.

 

You have knowledge of the following:

  • specialized procedures and regulations related to building system maintenance, including coordination with IT and other stakeholders.
  • safety practices and requirements associated with maintenance activities.
  • building codes, ASHRAE standards, and industry best practices for operations and maintenance, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • pratical use of computer applications such as MS Office, a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and Building Automation System.

 

Note that site specific training will be provided as required.

 

Nice-to-have 

Experience working in or with:

  • critical facilities (e.g., Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Medical, or Electrical)
  • fire suppression systems, UPS, and/or generators systems

 

Your education and experience

This position requires either a recognized trades certificate in a relevant discipline (such as Electrician, Plumber, or Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic), or a high school diploma combined with a minimum of three years of relevant hands-on experience. Relevant experience may include electrical or mechanical maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment and pumping systems, chiller systems, or related building operations. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French.     • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $66,179 to $77,858 (job grade 13)
    • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  3 to 5% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (2%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

    • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
    • Option to join the indexed, defined-benefit pension plan after 24 consecutive months of service
