What you will do
We’re looking for someone who enjoys designing and delivering high-quality, user-focused website content that is clear, concise, and accessible.  If you are pursuing a career in content design and are an advocate for great user experience, this position may be perfect for you.

We’re a small agile team of designers, videographers and content specialists committed to making the Bank’s digital communications leading-edge. We collaborate with stakeholders across the Bank to make our websites useable and useful.

As a content designer on the team, you’ll advise on day-to-day requests and work with the Manager of Digital Content Design to evolve our content-design practice.

More specifically you will:

  • Content design practice and standards
  • Uphold and evolve the Bank’s content-design practice
  • Continuously improve our tools, processes, procedures and standards
  • Participate in content-design critiques
  • Consult on content-design requests

Collaboration and stakeholder management

  • Work with subject-matter experts and stakeholders on content for all the Bank’s websites:
  • Collaborate with developers, graphic designers and videographers to seek out opportunities to enhance our content with visuals
  • Prioritize work to support departmental and organizational goals
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions while clearly communicating the rationale behind recommendations
  • Lead with influence, forming and maintaining collaborative relationships

Audience focus and accessibility

  • Collaborate with our research and analytics partners to understand how our audiences use the Bank’s websites and make better, data-based decisions
  • Be an active champion for readability and accessibility; knowing when to bend language rules and style guidelines to ensure clarity over “correctness”
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts (SMEs), editors and translators to build web content in both official languages

Content strategy and analysis

  • Analyze and shape content requirements to deliver compelling experiences
  • Perform content audits and analysis to find ways to enhance, or remove, what we already have available
  • Prototype content solutions for critique, ensuring usability for both desktop and mobile

What you need to succeed

  • Have a keen attention to detail and a strong desire to get things right — but not at the expense of getting things done
  • Experience with making complicated concepts easy to understand for various audiences
  • Experience with managing projects and triaging requests
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tools and processes for creating and managing content for the web

Application process
Your application must include the following:

  • curriculum vitae
  • examples of your work in content design or digital services
  • demonstrate excellent content design

Nice-to-have

  • experience using CMS and working in HTML/CSS
  • experience working with an agile Scrum team

  • knowledge of Canada’s financial industry and the Bank’s business functions
