What you will do
The Currency – Product Development Team (CUR-PDT) is seeking a four-month graduate student to further evolve our “Perception Study” program that utilizes cognitive science to optimize security feature authentication mechanisms and bank note design guidelines. Under the supervision of the CUR-PDT Research and Development (R&D) Team Lead, the successful candidate will be expected to apply their cognitive science background to:
- Support PDT’s relationship with external academic collaborators;
- Develop novel methodologies that can be used by PDT to increase the throughput of R&D samples in “Perception Studies”;
- Deliver project updates to the PDT team on a monthly basis;
- Liaise effectively with other Bank of Canada elements, e.g. legal, procurement, to maintain progress within the Perception Study projects.
- Investigate new strategies for analyzing perception study data that can be applied to bank note design and security feature evaluation.
What you need to succeed
You will have experience in conducting cognitive experimental studies and analyzing relevant data streams to generate results that support scientific investigations. In addition, you will be an excellent communicator (oral/written)and have all of the requisite attributes to manage relationships and projects with internal and external Bank of Canada stakeholders. Good inter-personal skills along with the ability to work independently and within a cohesive team-structure are pivotal to the success of this position.
Nice-to-have
- PDT is looking to integrate elements of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) in to our Perception Study program to: (a) accelerate the acquisition of cognitive science data on potential security features; and (b) expand the correlation of perception study results.
- Any experience with AI and AR platforms would be welcomed by the CUR-PDT team.
Your education and experience
The position requires to be enrolled in a post-graduate program in a field related to cognitive science.
