What you will do 
A key component of the Bank of Canada’s external communications strategy is stakeholder relations. Effective engagement with the individuals, groups and organizations that are, or could be, affected by the Bank’s activities and policy decisions can generate significant value in terms of more informed decision making, greater transparency and accountability, more effective risk management, more informed audiences, and a greater stock of confidence and trust.

 

The Stakeholder Relations analyst is accountable for identifying and analyzing stakeholders to support the development of the Bank’s outreach, align stakeholders’ and the Bank’s interests, and increase awareness of the Bank’s mission. The incumbent conducts research and analysis to identify opportunities, minimize risk associated with stakeholder relationships and uphold the Bank’s reputation.

 

Under the direction of the Director Stakeholder Relations, Initiatives, the Stakeholder Relations analyst provides support with the development and drafting of content for briefing notes, background information, communication plans, and other various reports for different audiences.

 

Your future responsibilities

  • contribute advice on the planning, execution and evaluation of stakeholder engagement activities and assist in the development of these activities for key Bank audiences, 
  • Conduct parliamentary monitoring and analysis on issues relevant to the Bank.
  • develop communications products, consistent with the Bank’s objectives, for multiple channels including digital media and media relations, to support stakeholder relations activities
  • analyze relevant sources such as academic and financial sectors reports, media, and intelligence from Bank contacts to identify and track stakeholder interests and concerns
  • contribute to the development and execution of measurement tools, relationship management tools (CRM), and other forms of analysis to better understand the needs of target audiences.
  • plan and coordinate specific stakeholder consultation events and activities
  • provide support to special projects across the Bank with stakeholder initiatives and outreach activities, and give advice on best practices for stakeholder relationship management, as necessary 
  • network with other departments at the Bank to keep abreast of current issues, ongoing activities at the Bank and stakeholder engagement in other departments, and to understand key messages in relation to other departments 

 

What you need to succeed

  • knowledge of the Bank’s mandate and different business functions
  • solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think conceptually and seek the most relevant information in an effective way, including the ability to identify problems, generate alternatives and recommend appropriate action 
  • ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff – outstanding interpersonal skills
  • ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple tasks, often under pressure and with shifting priorities
  • demonstrated initiative and ability to work autonomously
  • excellent communication skills, both oral and written

 

Nice-to-have 

  • experience with social media tools 
  • experience in parliamentary reporting
  • background in, or understanding of, the fundamentals of the communications field
  • knowledge of Canada’s financial industry 

 

Your education and experience

  • university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., communications, social sciences, education, business, finance) and three to five years of relevant experience

or

  • an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

 

What you need to know

  • Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.
  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
  • Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Reliability

Remote work / Hybrid Work Model #LI-Remote

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office. For this position, should you not live within reasonable commuting distance of the office, you will be able to work 100% remote (within Canada) for the duration of this term.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $83,500 to $98,235 (job grade 16)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay. The first tier of performance pay is for successfully meeting expectation, at  5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay for those who exceed expectations (10% of your base salary).. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
  • Flexible and comprehensive benefits so you can choose the level of health and dental coverage that meets your needs
  • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
