What you will do  

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Regional Outreach, you will monitor emerging counterfeiting issues, develop strategic engagement plans, and lead national initiatives that strengthen deterrence, education, and enforcement efforts. You will build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with law enforcement, prosecutors, and federal and provincial anti-counterfeiting partners (e.g., CBSA, RCMP) to inform policy, support operational decisions, and advance the Currency Department’s outreach and awareness objectives. 

 

You will: 

  • Develop and implement annual National Stakeholder Engagement Plans 

  • Monitor regional, national, and international developments to identify trends and emerging risks 

  • Analyse counterfeiting data with the Business Analyst to support operational and narrative needs 

  • Lead the Counterfeit Crisis Response and maintain the Counterfeit Playbook 

  • Recommend and implement innovative approaches to enhance national deterrence effectiveness 

  • Prepare briefing material, support senior-level engagement, and coordinate key follow-ups 

  • Manage the annual Law Enforcement Award program and oversee counterfeit product updates 

  • Assess the effectiveness of investigative and legal tools (e.g., Victim Impact Statements) 

  • Support National and Regional Money Flow workshops and related initiatives 

  • Collaborate with the Justice System Specialist and the Regional Outreach and Engagement team on targeted projects 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Currency leadership, ensuring stakeholder needs are understood and addressed with discretion and timeliness 

 

What you need to succeed 

You bring a strong understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada, the criminal justice system, and law enforcement structures, along with the judgment and strategic mindset required to anticipate emerging risks and guide national anti-counterfeiting efforts. You are a confident communicator who can influence decisions, manage sensitive situations, and represent the organization with professionalism across diverse audiences, including, when required, the media. 

 

You have: 

  • Proven relationship-building and networking skills with the ability to nurture trusted partnerships and act with tact in multi-stakeholder settings 

  • Experience planning and executing stakeholder engagement initiatives, and aligning them with strategic objectives 

  • Proficiency in data analysis and advanced interpretation capabilities, including managing datasets and presenting insights through clear narratives and visualizations 

  • Strong problem-solving and research skills, enabling you to assess evolving issues and translate findings into innovative, practical solutions 

  • Influencing and persuasion skills that support effective decision-making and collaboration in complex environments 

  • Clear, concise communication abilities (oral, written, and presentation) suited to a range of technical and non-technical audiences 

  • Sound judgment in planning, negotiation, and decision-making aligned with the Department’s risk appetite 

  • An ability to identify opportunities for AI and machine learning to automate processes, enhance intelligence, and strengthen operational value 

  • Resilience under pressure, including the capacity to manage sensitive, high-visibility situations and competing priorities with discretion and professionalism 

 

You thrive working independently and remotely, excel at building and maintaining networks, and are motivated by the opportunity to strengthen Canada’s currency integrity through informed, strategic engagement. 

 

Your education and experience 

The position requires a relevant university degree in a related field such as Business, Public Relations, Communications, or Law with a minimum of eight years of experience in strategic planning, managing critical relationships and networks, responding to crises, and navigating complex or sensitive external stakeholder situations is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French.  The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional).  If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

    • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $126,765 to $149,135 (job grade 18)
    • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
    • Flexible and comprehensive benefits so you can choose the level of health and dental coverage that meets your needs
    • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
    • Option to join the indexed, defined-benefit pension plan after 24 consecutive months of service
