About the role
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) role is most directly linked to driving HR strategy within the business and across the Bank. As an HRBP, you are a seasoned HR professional with a proven track record of providing strategic advice to senior executives and holding a trusted seat at the table. You combine an enterprise-wide perspective with a deep understanding of client-specific needs to influence critical talent decisions and shape the Bank’s people strategy.
In this role, you enable leaders to achieve their business objectives and fulfil their leadership accountabilities through forward-looking people strategies. Leveraging data as an anchor for decision-making, you translate analytics into compelling insights to anticipate workforce needs, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement.

What you will do
As the HR Business Partner, you will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders. You will provide strategic HR advice, coaching, and guidance on both day-to-day and long-term people matters, enabling leaders to embrace change, and build high-performing teams ready for the future.
You will anticipate challenges, surface actionable insights, and actively influence business decisions, moving beyond reactive support to strategic leadership across workforce planning, organizational design, performance, talent management, engagement, and enterprise change.
In addition, you will:
- Identify and diagnose underlying and systemic people and organizational issues, using data and insight to design and implement innovative, value-added solutions aligned to business outcomes
- Collaborate closely with HR senior leadership and HR Centres of Excellence (e.g., Employee Relations, Compensation, Leadership and Employee Development, Policy, and Recruitment) to deliver integrated solutions that meet both corporate standards and business needs
- Act as an influential coach and facilitator, supporting leaders through trust and partnership while also providing constructive challenge
- Take accountability for the effectiveness of HR initiatives aligned to key business priorities, measuring results and adjusting your approach to drive continuous improvement
What you need to succeed
You are a strategic, adaptable, and results-driven HR professional who thrives in ambiguity and complexity. You bring a strong business orientation and the confidence to engage, challenge, and influence senior leaders through sound judgment, professionalism and solid communication skills.
You have broad expertise across the HR function and an extensive HR toolkit, with a strong understanding of evolving workforce challenges, digitalization, and data analytics. You take a long-term, systems thinking approach, balancing enterprise priorities with local context, to support effective and sustainable change.
You are an analytical and insightful thinker who translates complex information into clear, actionable guidance. You are comfortable managing competing priorities, navigating opposing views with confidence and composure.
Your strong coaching and facilitation skills enable you to support leaders in improving performance, strengthening relationships, and fulfilling their leadership accountabilities. You foster ownership by setting clear expectations and boundaries, managing risk effectively, and empowering leaders to act.
You bring a strong sense of urgency, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to build trusted, long-term partnerships with clients and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have experience as an HR Business Partner or will have held progressively senior roles and demonstrate deep expertise in one or more talent-focused HR disciplines (Organizational development, leadership, compensation, employee relations, etc).
Nice-to-have skills
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
- Experience working with SAP and/or SuccessFactors
- Comfortable using Microsoft Copilot and other AI tools, with a willingness to explore and adopt new technologies to enhance productivity
Your education and experience
This position requires a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., HR, labour/industrial relations, business) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in HR. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). Hybrid Work Model
The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $153,721 to $180,848 (job grade 19)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
