Senior Full Stack Developer

The Team

You will be joining the Financial Market Operations, Applications Services agile teams comprised of dedicated and passionate developers, testers and business analysts who are directly involved with the Bank's of Canada’s role in the Financial Markets. It is mainly through the financial markets that the Bank's key policy rate influences interest rates and the exchange rate. What you will do

You will provide development & support leadership within an agile scrum team and support the Financial Markets portfolio in creating and maintaining mission critical processes related to auctions and other applications in a Java & DevOps environment.

 

In addition, you will:

  • Lead design and delivery complex work items for mission critical applications, which follow microservices architecture
  • Lead the resolution of complex operational problems by applying advanced level knowledge of the application and related infrastructure (production support & on-call rotation is required in this role)
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify and successfully complete proof of concepts, spikes etc. on new features and functionalities of different application components
  • Work with product owners to reduce technical debt and contribute to operational excellence.

 

What you need to succeed

You are a team player, capable of collaborating within an agile team and providing intellectual leadership by developing new knowledge, contributing expertise and sharing insights.

 

In addition, you have:

  • Experience with Single Page application frameworks such as: Angular, REST protocol, HTML, AG Grid, xml/xslt, and/or Typescript
  • Experience with Java/Spring components: Spring framework, Java persistence (Spring Data and/or Hibernate), Swagger
  • Knowledge of message queues such as ActiveMQ/Artemis

 

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with DevOps/Infrastructure components: RedHat Openshift/Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitOps(ArgoCD), Git, Linux
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts including database views

 

Your education and experience

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in computer science, software development or a relevant field and a minimum of 5+ years of relevant, recent experience

Hybrid Work Model #LI-Hybrid

The Bank is conducting a trial of a hybrid working model which provides employees with the flexibility to telework for significant portions of each month. During the trial, employees will only be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person.  For the majority of employees, it is expected that onsite time will range from 5 to 10 days per month, depending on your role.  You are expected to live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $86,780 to $108,465 (job grade 17)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (7 to 10% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (15% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
