What you will do 
The Data Management team provides lifecycle management of centrally managed data and information to support the Bank’s business functions.

 

As a Senior Data Management Specialist, you will ensure data management practices related to data governance, data architecture, data security and data storage are put in place, applied and documented for the supported on-premise and cloud platforms. You will be responsible in leading, providing guidance and supporting the Data Management team and our clients throughout the data lifecycle, from data onboarding, access management, data pipeline testing and monitoring, to data dissemination. 

 

Using your extensive knowledge of enterprise data architecture, you will gather, identify and implement functional and technical requirements by collaborating with the user community and stakeholders. You will lead and participate in overlapping projects, contribute to creative solutions and new ways to advance the Bank’s digital and data abilities. 


Specifically, you will: 

  • support and provide guidance to the Data Management team on all data-related aspects
  • conduct high-quality analysis and assessment on requirements and data management practices, impacts and risks, and recommend course of action
  • design solutions with stakeholders and contribute to the implementation
  • review and set the rating of sensitivity for datasets by conducting analysis and liaising with stakeholders 
  • oversee and manage user access controls to restricted datasets 
  • lead and coordinate in testing of new data pipelines, enhancements, system upgrades and redesigns
  • liaise with project management and stakeholders to plan deployment timelines
  • identify opportunities to improve the functioning of the business and the delivery of business services
  • contribute to knowledge sharing and development of the team’s analytical and technical skills
  • develop, provide guidance and support on creation and maintenance of documentation


What you need to succeed

  • deep knowledge of :
    • data management principles and best practices
    • on-premise and cloud technologies, databases, and systems with strong aptitude for technology
  • excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • strong decision-making, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • ability to translate complex problems clearly and in non-technical terms
  • good knowledge of programming languages such as Python and SQL


Your education and experience
The position requires a university degree in business administration, statistics, mathematics, computer science, computer engineering or information technology, and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

What you need to know

  • Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.
  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
  • Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Reliability

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,346 to $108,643 (job grade 16)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

  • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
  • Option to join the indexed, defined-benefit pension plan after 24 consecutive months of service
