We are a small agile team of communicators who work together on strategic communications that help employees get the right information at the right time. We are looking for an experienced strategic communicator who can help us bolster employee communications, explore new ways of communicating, leverage analytics and feedback mechanisms, and deliver high-quality communications advice, planning and strategies.  

 

What you will do 
You will work with some of Canada’s top talent to plan, develop and deliver communications strategies and products that work. The Senior Communications Specialist provides strategic advice to internal Bank clients and communications coaching to the extended Employee Communications team to ensure their success. You will need a resourceful attitude and excellent organization and relationship building skills as you work with teams and senior leaders across the Bank.  

 

Specifically, you will:

  • Support the Director of Employee Communications in developing communications plans, creative content and products that suit our audience needs and business objectives and provide measurable results.
  • Create content (intranet content, speeches, videos and video scripts) collaboratively with colleagues, reviewing and critiquing their work to help us keep growing and improving. 
  • Build solid working relationships and networks across the organization to become a trusted senior communications partner. 
  • Guide and coach the team in implementing innovative approaches for delivering employee communications. 
  • Lead projects that have an impact on our reputation and culture; sometimes working on sensitive materials.
  • Leverage knowledge of digital trends and culture to help us meet our objective to modernize our communications channels.
  • Support communications related to the delivery of employee events.

 

What you need to succeed

  • extensive experience developing integrated communications strategies 
  • deep knowledge of the latest employee communication tools and trends
  • experience using Viva Engage and other creative channels and products to deliver effective two-way employee communications
  • extensive experience consulting with top executives and senior management on issues that affect employees, their work, and the work environment
  • strong writing skills for a variety of content, audiences and platforms
  • experience collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of portfolio leads, product owners/managers and UX experts to develop digital content

 

Nice-to-have 

  • knowledge of Canada’s financial industry and the Bank of Canada’s mandate and functions
  • project and event management experience
  • experience in digital content development and marketing, (web content, videos, email, social, etc.) and analytics 

 

Your education and experience
The position requires a university degree in a relevant discipline (such as journalism, communications, digital-media, or content design) with seven to ten years of relevant experience in strategic communications planning and execution. We may also consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

What you need to know

  • Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.
  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
  • Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Reliability

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $121,842 to $143,344 (job grade 18)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

  • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
