Shaping the Future of AI at Canada’s Central Bank
Artificial intelligence is transforming how organizations build, deliver, and scale digital capabilities. At the Bank of Canada, our Data & Digital Services department is advancing the responsible adoption of AI to empower developers, streamline workflows, and strengthen the Bank’s digital foundation.
Working with technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, GitHub, AI agents and modern cloud platforms, you will play a leading role in building secure, scalable, and responsible AI capabilities for one of Canada’s most respected institutions.
What you need to know
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Platform Specialist (Senior Developer) who is passionate about building the next generation of AI-powered developer experiences. In this role, you will lead the development, configuration, and implementation of advanced Code Assistant solutions, integrated advanced capabilities across GitHub, Copilot technologies and AI agents, and enable teams to work more efficiently through automation and modern AI platforms.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping how AI augments software development and digital delivery at the Bank, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to build secure, scalable, and enterprise-ready AI solutions that enhance productivity, automate complex workflows and accelerate innovation across the organization while maintaining the Bank’s strong standards for governance, reliability, and operational excellence.
What you will do
- Lead the architecture, implementation and evolution of enterprise AI coding assistants and developer productivity platforms, Including building Agent workflows in Copilot Studio
- Lead the integration of AI solutions with GitHub, enabling secure workflow automation, security and improve developer experience.
- Architect, deploy, and optimize Copilot agents tailored to the Bank’s development and operational needs.
- Lead the development and deployment of Azure AI Foundry solutions, ensuring security, scalability and operational excellence.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and provide technical leadership on the adoption of new AI capabilities across the Bank.
- Implement and maintain fabric integrations that connect data, disparate platforms and services to enable seamless end-to-end solution delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across DevOps, Security, and Product Management to deliver secure and scalable AI solutions.
- Mentor and support fellow engineers, contributing to the growth of AI engineering and best practices across the organization.
What you need to succeed
- Deep expertise in GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, APIs, and modern DevOps practices .
- Proven experience designing and deploying generative AI solutions, AI agents and agentic workflows using Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI or similar platforms.
- Experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, knowledge-grounded AI solutions or related modern AI patterns.
- Hands-on proficiency with cloud platforms, including Azure and container orchestration.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience implementing AI/ML solutions and modern automation platforms like Azure, Google and AWS.
- Strong foundation in AI-driven software development
- Proven ability to apply advanced machine learning solutions to real-world engineering workflows.
- Excellent communication and collaboration with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, vector databases, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Experience building enterprise AI governance, security, or responsible AI frameworks.
- Microsoft Azure AI certifications or related cloud certifications.
Education and Experience
This position requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field, along with 6 or more years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or related technical roles, including at least 2 years including experience designing, implementing, or leading modern AI-enabled developer productivity solutions such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, AI agents, or similar technologies.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. Hybrid Work Model
The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $111,051 to $130,649 (job grade 17)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
