What you will do
We are currently seeking a Security Solution Architect to join the Financial Market & Banking Operations (FMBO) Portfolio in the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Banking Operations Applications & Enterprise Architecture, you will be tasked with developing and implementing security architecture designs to meet Cyber Risk Assurance process and cyber resiliency standards for internal and external facing FMBO solutions, while meeting evolving business and operational requirements as well as standards for reliability, scalability and availability.
As a member of the Bank of Canada ITS architecture community, you will also work alongside other Solutions Architects to help review and critique other initiative solutions to ensure they are closely aligned with the Bank’s road maps and best practices, as well as cyber standards
More specifically you will :
- Develop security solution architecture/design based on business, operational, technical and security requirement, while aligning with the Bank’s Enterprise Architecture principles and Cyber Security standards.
- Assessing the technology solutions for compliance to the Bank Cyber Security directives and standards, following the Bank’s Cyber Risk & Assessment Framework
- Working with solution and project teams to mitigate and track cyber risks
- Applying a threat modeling approach to cyber security risk measurement and reporting
- Contribute to the evolution of our Cyber Security Solution Architecture processes, Cyber Risk processes, tools, and standards, and templates
- Research and monitor innovative technology developments and industry trends
What you need to succeed
As an experienced Security Solutions Architect, you are a self-starter with the ability to quickly grasp the essence of complex issues. You are an effective communicator, able to clearly convey key points, organize content, and write in a style appropriate to the audience and purpose of the document and presentation. You will contribute towards creating positive team dynamics by engaging in productive and respectful conversations, dealing with conflict in a timely way, helping team members and having a positive attitude towards the team's goals.
Nice-to-have
- Previous experience in a financial, banking, and/or payments environment
- Previous experience in the Bank’s Cyber and Infrastructure environment
- knowledge of:
- Cloud Environment and implementation
- Leading vendor platforms, such as Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft and IBM
Your education and experience
- University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CISM.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of recent relevant work experience in the IT field
- A minimum of five (7) years of demonstrated experience in developing Cyber Security Architecture
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a cyber assessment program
- Experience with risk management and security control methodologies and frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2).

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. Although the position language requirement is English or French essential, we do encourage everyone to improve second their language proficiency for future career growth and to contribute towards fostering a bilingual environment.

Hybrid Work Model
The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. - Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $124,279 to $146,211 (job grade 18)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
