What you will do
Reporting to the Manager of Client Relations, within the Bank of Canada’s Digital Library and Data Licensing Service, you will deliver information alerting services that help internal clients stay informed on key developments in their identified areas of interest and responsibilities. This includes curating and disseminating manual and automated alerts using commercial news services and free web content.

 
As a member of the Research and Reference team, you will also analyze and respond to research requests, identify the most relevant resources to meet a researcher's needs, and contribute to the selection of reports and the application of accurate metadata within an internal repository.

Specifically, you will:

  • conduct client needs assessments, including reference interviews 
  • develop complex search strings within news aggregation resources
  • maintain information alerting solutions and disseminate alerts to client groups
  • gather data to support qualitative and quantitative reporting
  • conduct research across a variety of subject areas using internal and external sources
  • support the Team Lead in delivering research products with an economics and finance focus
  • deliver presentations and training sessions to clients
  • respond to client requests via email and service-tracking tools
  • participate in projects, working groups, and committees
  • demonstrate a commitment to building familiarity with, and appropriate use of, AI tools and technologies within a library environment

 

What you need to succeed
You will demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, supported by clear and effective communication. You will be able to exercise sound judgment and make well reasoned decisions, even in time sensitive or high pressure situations. You are comfortable working independently, managing your responsibilities with minimal supervision, and adapting effectively to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.


Education and Experience
This position requires a college or bachelor’s degree in library/information sciences with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience maybe considered.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French.  The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional).  If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Hybrid Work Model

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $73,511 to $86,484 (job grade 14)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
