Did you know?
The Communications Department is made up of 10 teams who work together to help the Bank explain its activities to the public and to its employees through various forms of communication. We aim for our communications to be effective, inclusive and well understood by all Canadians.

As Communications at the Bank continues to support a growing portfolio of operational priorities and strategic initiatives, effective planning, coordination and project delivery are increasingly important. The department is strengthening its project management and operational planning capabilities to support complex initiatives, enhance capacity planning, improve decision-making and ensure successful delivery of its objectives.

One important initiative is the Bank of Canada Museum’s multi-year update project (2025–2030+), which will modernize exhibits, digital infrastructure and accessibility features. The project requires sustained coordination across Communications, Information Technology Services (ITS), Corporate Services and external partners. More broadly, this role will help build a more integrated, consistent and proactive approach to planning, governance, reporting and project delivery across the department.

What will you do
Reporting to the Director, Research and Business Support, you will:

  • Strengthen departmental planning and efficiency by implementing common project management processes, templates, documentation standards and best practices for Communications.
  • Support alignment with the annual departmental plan by maintaining an integrated calendar for production, events, launches and major deliverables.
  • Provide project management expertise and oversight for multiple concurrent departmental initiatives, including the Bank of Canada Museum 2030 update project.
  • Coordinate Museum update planning by maintaining the integrated project plan, aligning deliverables across Communications, ITS, Corporate Services, Facilities and external partners, and tracking budgets, timelines, risks, issues and dependencies through to reopening.
  • Support project governance and executive decision-making by preparing materials, maintaining action and decision logs, tracking approvals, coordinating governance meetings, escalating issues and preparing concise status reports and dashboards.
  • Identify, monitor and escalate risks, issues, dependencies and capacity constraints to support planning, prioritization and timely delivery.
  • Guide the selection, implementation and adoption of project management and planning tools to support consistent practices across the department.
  • Act as a key point of contact for sizeable projects requiring input from multiple Communications teams (i.e. Web Communications, Translation and Editorial), and liaise with clients, partners and vendors as required.
  • Build strong relationships across the department to plan and sequence work, assess capacity, resolve issues and support departmental and client objectives in a bilingual communications environment.

What you need to succeed
A resourceful problem solver with outstanding organizational skills, you bring a strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, governance practices, risk management and dependency tracking. You have a solid business acumen and can translate business needs into practical solutions and achievable implementation plans. You exercise sound judgment, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and can manage multiple concurrent priorities, deadlines, dependencies and resource constraints in a complex environment.

You are an effective communicator and relationship builder, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, senior leaders, external partners, and vendors. You excel at fostering productive working relationships, navigating competing interests and supporting informed decision-making through clear, concise reporting, briefing materials and recommendations.

You have experience planning and coordinating multi-year initiatives involving cross-functional teams, external vendors and procurement-related activities. You are comfortable tracking budgets, milestones, risks and project performance through tools such as dashboard, issue longs and status reports. You are proficient with project planning and project management software and can support the adoption of common tools and practices across teams. Familiarity with Bank governance and reporting instruments, such as priority workplans and ServiceNow project intake, would be an asset.
