What you will do
Reporting to the Director, Currency Policy and Research, you will monitor currency and payments markets to identify emerging trends, risks, and challenges, and contribute to the development of strategic and policy options that support the Bank’s Currency mandate.
In this role, you will:
- conduct and integrate research to analyze trends and developments across currency and payments ecosystems, including potential legal considerations related to Currency legislation;
- monitor policy and regulatory interventions affecting cash systems in other jurisdictions;
- develop industry and company profiles to support policy analysis;
- produce high-quality analysis, business cases, and policy recommendations related to cash, demonstrating a strong understanding of the Bank’s public policy mandate and Currency operations;
- coordinate and support key team and stakeholder relationships;
- contribute to major initiatives, including the cash system governance review and the cost of payments study.
What you need to succeed
We are looking for an effective communicator, with the ability to produce high-quality briefing notes, presentations and other communication tools in order to capture input, build consensus and develop or present strong recommendations.
You bring :
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- Experience in business and policy analysis and development
- Flexibility in carrying out several different tasks and ability to effectively manage own schedule and priorities to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with AI
Nice-to-have
- Knowledge of the Currency function at the Bank.
- Knowledge of the payments ecosystem.
- Project management knowledge.
Your education and experience
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, business or a relevant field with a minimum of five years of recent and proven experience. We may also consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). Hybrid Work Model

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $94,193 to $110,816 (job grade 16)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
