About the position

Under the direction of the Director, Web Communications, you’ll be responsible for managing the team (and associated support contractors) that collaborates with business lines and produces communications products for the Bank, particularly major publications, research and educational materials. This is an opportunity to lead a talented team of publishing, production and design professionals responsible for bringing the Bank’s communications products to life.

 

What you will do

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of web publishing, graphic design, and publication production activities.
  • Plan and prioritize workloads, schedules, and resources to meet publishing deadlines.
  • Oversee the creation, review, and publication of digital and print communications products.
  • Provide people leadership for a multidisciplinary team, including coaching and development, performance management, workload and capacity planning. 
  • Ensure products meet accessibility standards, follows plain-language principles and adheres to quality assurance expectations in both official languages.
  • Coordinate production activities with subject matter experts and communications partners.
  • Support Director with the modernization of publishing and production services by improving workflows, governance, tools and practices in alignment with the Bank’s broader web and digital strategy.


What you need to succeed
You have the ability to lead, coach and develop multidisciplinary teams while fostering collaboration, accountability and high-quality results. You are comfortable consulting with leadership, subject-matter experts, content creators and technical teams, and can translate complex requirements into deliverable products.

 

You possess strong knowledge of web publishing, content management systems and digital publishing workflows, along with the ability to oversee and contribute to the production of digital and print communications products. You also demonstrate proficiency in graphic design principles, tools and production processes across multiple formats.

 

You bring strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing requests. You have experience establishing and improving publishing, review and quality assurance processes, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, accessibility, brand standards and user experience.


Your education and experience
This position requires an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as communications, publishing, digital media, design, information management, web production or a related field along with 5-7 years of professional experience leading and managing a production unit of an organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French.  The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional).  If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Training may be provided to help reach the required level.  Both bilingual and unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $111,051 to $130,649 (job grade 17)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
