About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Director, Public Content is responsible for shaping and advancing the Bank of Canada’s public content strategy. This role provides strategic advice, anticipates emerging trends, and leads the creation of plain language, platform responsive content that helps Canadians understand the economy and the Bank’s work.
What you will do
Strategic Leadership
- Set the strategic direction for the Bank’s public content program to support organizational priorities of trust, education, transparency, and public understanding.
- Provide advice to senior leadership and influence cross Bank approaches to public communication, digital strategy, and content modernization.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement across all contributing functions.
Public-Facing Content Excellence
- Oversee the development of plain language, multiplatform content that meets Bank standards for accuracy, clarity, accessibility, inclusion, and bilingual delivery.
- Drive the creation of public communications digital content including explainers, articles, shortform videos, visual storytelling assets, and social media content.
- Ensure content is aligned with audience behaviours and optimized for priority channels, platforms, and formats.
Analytics, Insights & Performance Leadership
- Oversee the integration of analytics, performance measurement, and audience research into content planning, strategy, and decision making.
Governance, Workflow & Operational Excellence
- Lead governance structures, workflow documentation, quality assurance processes, and operational planning for public content production.
What you need to succeed
You are an experienced strategic leader who thrives in high‑impact, fast‑moving environments. You bring the sound judgment needed to anticipate emerging issues and provide clear, trusted advice at the executive level. With a proven ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through complex, high‑visibility initiatives, you inspire confidence and deliver results that matter. Your expertise spans modern digital content strategy, audience insights, analytics, platform optimization, and visual communication—paired with deep knowledge of plain‑language principles and accessibility standards. You excel at designing efficient workflows and leading operational planning in dynamic content and communication ecosystems, ensuring clarity, coherence, and excellence in every output.
Your Education & Experience
This position requires an undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of progressively senior experience in digital communications, public engagement, or content strategy, including direct leadership of teams.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Training may be provided to help reach the required level. Both bilingual and unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Hybrid Work Model
The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $153,721 to $180,848 (job grade 19)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
