About the position
The Financial Markets and Banking Operations Portfolio develops and supports critical technical solutions that support front, middle, and back-office functions at the Bank. The portfolio is a large team of technical and business experts that support the majority of the Bank’s mission critical applications.

 

What you will do
As a Developer, you will join a Scrum Team of dedicated and innovative professionals developing and supporting Market Data Management and Treasury Management solutions.  

 

More specifically, you will
Collaborate with the Scrum Team to:

  • Understand the implementation of features by questioning how those features will handle various scenarios and their underlying business logic;
  • Develop unit tests (automated or otherwise) for the product;
  • Create and contribute to mechanisms to enable effective and consistent coding practices;
  • Work in tandem with quality assurance specialists to ensure features are developed according to business requirements
  • Participate in estimation discussions to enable accurate forecasting and decision making;
  • Help improve backlog management processes;
  • Research, evaluate and make recommendations that support or improve Scrum Team processes;
  • Author documentation to support the ongoing usage of the products developed by the Scrum Team;

 

Utilize your development experience and expertise to:

  • Understand the development framework and coach others in its usage;
  • Ensure that automated tests are performed at the correct level (unit, service or UI layer);
  • Inspire others to identify novel solutions to development problems;
  • Research, evaluate and recommend tools and services that support or improve the development experience

 

What you will need to succeed

  • You are an effective communicator, self-starter and team player with a track record for continued learning and self- improvement.
  • You also think innovatively to find solutions to complex problems and act as a change contributor
  • You have experience working directly with members of the client community to deliver software that works.

 

In addition, you have

  • Development experience with Markit EDM solutions including data sourcing, data matching\mastering, cross subject area enrichment, and data quality evaluation or experience with any other data warehousing tools.
  • Experience developing and optimizing SQL database stored procedures 
  • Experience developing supporting Microsoft .NET and IIS application platforms 
  • Familiarity integrating with an Enterprise Service Bus and/or an enterprise queue management system (ie: MQSeries, Mulesoft, etc.)
  • Experience with production support, code optimization and performance tuning across application layers

 

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with IHS Markit (S&P Global) Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solutions Knowledge of the financial industry, specifically pricing and securities handling
  • Experience with ETL with data feeds such as Bloomberg, StatPro, DEX, etc.. using tools such as MATLAB Experience with enterprise job scheduling solutions (ie: Jenkins)
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated deployment scripts (PowerShell, etc..) Experience using source-control software to manage group software projects (GitHub, etc..)
  • Experience operating in a Scrum environment.

 

Your education and experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a related field (computer science, software development, etc.) and 3+ years of recent, relevant experience.

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office. For this position, should you not live within reasonable commuting distance of the office, you will be able to work 100% remote (within Canada) for the duration of this term.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $83,500 to $98,235 (job grade 16)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay. The first tier of performance pay is for successfully meeting expectation, at  5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers performance pay for those who exceed expectations (10% of your base salary).. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

  • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
