What You Will Do
As part of the Data and Digital Services Department (DDS), the Analytic Environment Business Support Team (AEBS) provides expertise, advice, and business support on data, compute platforms, and tools used in the Analytic Environment - core components supporting the Bank’s mandates for monetary policy, financial stability, and economic and financial research.
We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to provide business and systems analysis, software testing, and application support for projects, enhancements, and operations related to our information systems across both on-premise and cloud platforms. In this role, you will collaborate with business partners and colleagues to identify and document user requirements, analyze business processes and systems, support the development and enhancement of key applications, and deliver training to economists and researchers.
Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, you will gather, define and implement functional and technical requirements in collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will lead and participate in overlapping projects, contribute creative solutions and explore new ways to advance the Bank’s digital and data capabilities.
Specifically, you will:
- Work with cloud platforms such as Databricks and/or Fabric.
- Read and write code using Python and SQL.
- Use BI tools for data visualization (e.g., Power BI).
- Lead the deployment and upgrade of econometric tools and components within the Analytic Environment.
- Manage an inventory of software and software licenses.
- Prepare software installation and evergreening instructions for Information Technology Services (ITS).
- Maintain collaborative relationships with internal clients and external counterparts to support operational objectives.
Resolve “how-to” inquiries related to econometric tools and platforms. - Participate in projects and provide support to ensure issues, risks, and approved changes to the Analytic Environment are managed effectively.
- Create and deliver presentations and training sessions for colleagues in economic and business departments on analytical solutions.
What You Need to Succeed
- Experience working in Linux environment and solid understanding of computer systems fundamentals.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear business impact analyses based on client needs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with sound decision-making ability to investigate system issues, gather information, and formulate practical recommendations.
- Effective planning and organizational skills to prioritize tasks, monitor progress, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, non-technical terms.
- Familiarity with analytic tools such as MATLAB, Julia, or R.
Education and Experience
The position requires a college degree in business administration, statistics, mathematics, computer science, computer engineering or information technology, and a minimum of six years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Hybrid Work Model

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,346 to $108,643 (job grade 16)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
