What you will do 

As part of the Data and Digital Services Department (DDS), the Regulatory Reporting System (RRS) Team supports a centralized platform that enables financial institutions to submit both structured and unstructured regulatory returns to the Bank of Canada (BoC) and other agencies, including OSFI and CDIC.

 

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to provide business and systems analysis, software testing, and application support for projects, enhancements, and ongoing operations related to our information systems. In this role, you will collaborate with business partners and technical teams to identify and document user requirements, perform business process and systems analysis, and contribute to the development, enhancement, and support of the Bank’s Regulatory Reporting systems.

 

Specifically, you will:

  • Provide Helpdesk support, responding to inquiries via email and phone from internal and external clients (e.g., financial institutions).
  • Develop regulatory return templates used for financial data reporting, and create associated validation rules.
  • Support and troubleshoot issues for external filers, resolving technical and “how-to” questions.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system releases and updates.
  • Develop test cases and perform functional testing for upgrades to tools and components within the Regulatory Reporting systems.
  • Support and assist in the management and collection of chartered bank data and other regulatory filings.
  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparts to achieve operational objectives.

 

What you need to succeed

  • You are an effective communicator who can analyze client needs, translate them into clear business requirements, and assess business impacts.
  • You bring strong interpersonal skills and can work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • You have excellent problem-solving abilities, enabling you to investigate and resolve system issues, gather and validate information, and make sound decisions when providing advice or recommendations.
  • You possess strong planning and organizational skills, allowing you to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and ensure quality deliverables are completed on time.
  • You have a good understanding of the fundamentals of computer systems, IT methodology used in client-server environments and the system development life cycle.  

 

Nice to have:

  •  knowledge of cloud technologies

 

Your education and experience

The position requires a college degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French.  The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional).  If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Training may be provided to help reach the required level.  Both bilingual and unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

    • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $72,070 to $84,788 (job grade 14)
    • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

    • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
    • Option to join the indexed, defined-benefit pension plan after 24 consecutive months of service
