About the team:
We are seeking a Business Analyst to join our Cyber Security Operations team! Our team is responsible for detecting and responding to external and internal cyber threats that would have an impact on the business functions of Canada’s Central Bank.
 
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Cyber Security Monitoring and Response, you will join the Bank’s Cyber Security Monitoring team and play a key role in securing the Canadian economy.  Our team is a collaborative group of individuals across multiple domains focused on building monitoring and analysis capabilities, integration, automation, and delivering value to clients quickly and iteratively.
 
Further - you will be provided with the chance to make recommendations on processes and technology along with the opportunity to utilize state-of-the-art Enterprise Cyber Security Solutions and consistently learn as technology in the industry evolves.
 
What you will do
As the Business Analyst, you collaborate with business partners and colleagues to identify user requirements, perform business process and systems analysis, assess process improvements, and support overall project solutions.
 
More specifically, you will:

  • Combine strong analysis, problem-solving and communication skills to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and quality in your deliverables.
  • Provide project support to the portfolio as needed
  • Complete process & technology review across the portfolio including response playbooks, update documentation, and initiate improvements as required
  • Participate in initiatives that look to improve our processes and technology across the portfolio as well as across the division. 
  • Ensure that processes and technologies continue to meet business needs, while maintaining an appropriate balance between functionality and security.
  • Build an understanding of the organization’s resources and capacity for change and develop the processes, tools and techniques required to effectively meet the change objectives.

 

What you need to succeed
You have an ability to plan, organize and perform multiple tasks concurrently and meet necessary deadlines. You are also a strong communicator & collaborator capable of working with varied stakeholders, both internally and externally including technical specialists to ensure that departmental business needs and requirements are met. 
 
In addition, you have:

  • Experience gathering and documenting user needs and translating them into technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of system development methodology, including a commitment to the success of the testing phases and processes

 
Nice-to-have skills

  •  International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation
  • Previous experience in a Cyber Security portfolio/environment

 
Your education and experience
Your combined education and work experience demonstrate that you have the proficiencies and skills for the role. We are ideally seeking candidates with a relevant degree/diploma and 5+ years of relevant experience.

 

What you need to know

  • Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.
  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
  • Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Secret 
  • There will be no relocation assistance provided

Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues.   • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,346 to $108,643 (job grade 16)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

  • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
  • Option to join the indexed, defined-benefit pension plan after 24 consecutive months of service
