Business Systems Analyst

About the position
Reporting to the Program Manager, Technology Evolution, you collaborate with business partners and colleagues to identify user requirements, perform business process and systems analysis, assess process improvements and support overall project solutions. You will combine strong analysis, problem-solving and communication skills to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and quality in your deliverables. 


As part of the Technology Evolution team, you will participate in the evaluation and delivery of new technologies at the Bank, with a key focus on enhancing Bank staff’s user experience, as well as assess feasibility and readiness for new technology deployments at the Bank.  You will also ensure that technologies continue to meet business needs, while maintaining an appropriate balance between functionality and security. In addition, you build an understanding of the organization’s resources and capacity for change and develop the processes, tools and techniques required to effectively meet the change objectives.

Your future responsibilities

  • participate in the project analysis phase by assessing impacts of proposed changes, gathering and managing user needs and requirements as they relate to the deployment of various projects 
  • lead analysis by undertaking information gathering and analysis and by eliciting the details of user requirements in discussion with users
  • partner with key stakeholders across the Bank to support the execution of specific engagement strategies and plans
  • assess the impact of the proposed business requirements on the systems and collaborate with technical specialists to propose solutions
  • develop and improve business processes within the technology and business organizations
  • facilitate presentation to clients and stakeholders and provide training to end-users as required
  • develop, maintain and strengthen long-term relationships or partnerships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • participate with the project stakeholders in functional and user experience testing
  • assess current policies, programs or services to recommend changes to support continuous improvement 


Your education and experience

  • relevant university or college degree (e.g., information technology, project management, business analysis) and five years of experience in business analysis, project management, information technology or process analysis environment


  • an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered



  • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation
  • knowledge of Organizational Change Management (ADKAR) principles, approaches and methodologies


Your knowledge and skills 

  • strong written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
  • experience in creating high quality deliverables, ability to develop effective presentations and present information clearly and concisely
  • experience working in conjunction with internal communication teams to provide effective communications through a variety of methods
  • ability to work with technical specialists to ensure that departmental business needs and requirements are met
  • solid interpersonal skills (team player and client focus) – willingness to share expertise, provide constructive feedback, and contribute ideas to others to achieve common goals 
  • proactive mindset with an innovative outlook – initiates change and develops solutions to problems
  • ability to plan, organize and perform multiple tasks concurrently; set priorities; focus on attention to detail; and meet deadlines 
  • experience gathering and documenting user needs and translating them into technical requirements
  • knowledge of system development methodology, including a commitment to the success of the testing phases and processes
  • ability to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • familiarity with project management approaches and tools as well as phases of the project life cycle

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $77,800 to $91,426 (job grade 16)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (5 to 7% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (10% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
