The Business Analysis and Systems Support (BASS) Team:

We are seeking candidates interested in joining our Business Analysis and Systems Support (BASS) team!

Within BASS, you will join a diverse and collaborative Scrum team in the Financial Markets Department, tasked with developing new features to the Bank’s internal solutions and supporting day to day critical operations by providing expert second level support.

Further– you will also have the full support of your leader and team to learn, grow, and further your career through the Bank’s customizable Learning & Development programs across various domains (IT, Business Analysis, Data Analytics, etc..) and certifications.

 

 

What you will do

As a Business Analyst, you will be the voice of the Business within the Scrum Team which entails facilitating communication with, as well as eliciting requirements from the business stakeholders, leading, and coordinating all activities related to the clarification and understanding of the requirements from your team members and leading the investigation and resolution of issues during critical operations.

More specifically you will:

    • Enable the development of IT assisted solutions while ensuring that the members of your team fully understand the features required to improve financial market operations applications.
    • Play a strategic role by reviewing and analyzing options to improve the Bank’s business solution capabilities to meet its evolving needs in response to domestic and global economic conditions.
    • Work closely with all business lines to ensure that the end-state solution meets the Bank’s expectations.
    • Work within with your assigned Agile Scrum team to contribute to completing the team’s tasks, including test preparation and testing.
    • Continuously learn the business processes and functionality of the Financial Markets Department to acquire the knowledge required to support your colleagues.
    • Provide strategic and analytical expertise about our different business unit operations to detail, validate and more importantly clarify requirements and their potential impacts.

 

 

What you will need to succeed 

    • You are an analytical thinker, capable of identifying the root causes of inefficiencies in business processes and IT solutions. You are also a change contributor, self starter, and effective communicator with the ability to collaborate, ask the right questions, and transcribe answers so that they are understandable.
    • You are curious in trying to understand what the users are trying to accomplish, and your instincts will help you identify the missing aspects about their business needs that they might not have visibility on themselves.
    • You will demonstrate a solid proficiency in the underlying competencies as described in the BABOK® Guide.

 

In addition, you have:

    • Experience as a Business Analyst in a technology / IT environment including being comfortable with technical discussions and having experience in System Development Lifecyle (SDLC) and solution delivery.
    • The ability to understand and apply the key concepts described in the BABOK® Guide
    • Experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment with shifting priorities

 

 

Nice-to-have skills

    • Experience in a financial/banking environment including the understanding of front, middle and back-office operations, treasury/portfolio management tools, and macro-economic concepts including the role of central banking.
    • Experience working on Business Intelligence or Data Analytics initiatives, including the ability to analyze and understand large datasets, working with tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
    • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®), Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA), Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), or any relevant certification/designation.

 

 

Your education and experience 

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French.  The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional).  If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Training may be provided to help reach the required level.  Both bilingual and unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Remote work / Hybrid Work Model

The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office. For this position, should you not live within reasonable commuting distance of the office, you will be able to work 100% remote (within Canada).

    • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,346 to $108,643 (job grade 16)
    • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

    • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
    • Option to join the indexed, defined-benefit pension plan after 24 consecutive months of service
