What you will do
We are looking for four Business Analysts to join the Business Analysis and Systems Support team in the Financial Markets Department (FMD) for our scrum teams. Three positions will be for three years and one position will be for 18-months. All positions will have the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Delivery Services you leverage your expertise in business strategy and analysis to clarify and document users’ needs, while ensuring that the teams in charge of implementation fully understand the features needed to improve market operations applications. You play a strong business role by reviewing and analyzing options for improving business solution capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the Bank. Using your business analysis skills to understand requirements, you work closely with all business lines to ensure that the end-state solution is truly in line with Bank expectations. Working with an Agile team, you also contribute to all efforts necessary to complete the team’s tasks. This can potentially include tasks beyond business analysis, such as writing automated testing scripts or developing tests to assess delivered features. You also work collaboratively within a team of other experts in the field.

As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for applying analytic processes and techniques in qualifying business challenges, processes and programs or services to identify and validate opportunities for improvement. As an active member of a Scrum team, you will be required to quickly pick-up the business knowledge required to support your colleagues through defining and clarifying the requirements from the business users, helping design and execute the test scripts and test strategy. You will play an active role in creating documentation for user requests and ongoing projects with the goal of meeting the intended need for them, as well as their supportability once deployed, as prioritized in the department’s work plan.

You will be expected to build a good understanding of our supported teams’ business processes and data requirements/flows so you can bring a meaningful contribution to our projects. You will also work with individuals who provide second-level support for FMD’s applications. Providing this level of support is one of the team’s key missions and your meaningful contribution is essential. You will also collaborate with developers and quality assurance analysts as part of an Agile development process.

As per the Agile mindset, you will play a key role in all development phases leading to the delivery of system improvements as per user requests. You require a hands-on approach to support your team and help where/when it is needed.

What you need to succeed
We are looking for someone with experience with defining, building and planning business initiatives as well as in troubleshooting and applying root cause analysis in a practical context. You must be aware of business analysis principles and best practices and able to quickly understand the processes/data required from our business and contribute to solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. You must be capable of conducting needs assessments, gathering and identify business requirements and validating the best path to implement our solutions.

You must be an effective communicator and have a commendable team spirit and a healthy curiosity for understanding topics that are in our workplan. You must be committed to continuous learning in the business analysis field, which will help you approach situations and solve existing problems. You must be a self-starter; consistently looking for insights on how to help your team meet its objectives.

Your observation skills, your capacity to identify blind spots in the features to implement, your ability to help in planning and carrying out teamwork as well as your expertise in conceptualizing the work to be done will allow you to understand the deliverables in each project.
