We are currently looking to hire 1 permanent position and 1 term position for 12 months.

 

What you will do 
The Building Systems Specialist completes a variety of skilled tasks to ensure that the building systems in the high-availability (HA) facility are continuously operating to support the Bank's mission-critical applications and computing environment. You will be working within an established framework that supports a redundant, highly available, mission critical facility.

 

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Services, you perform maintenance of the chillers, water pumps, treatment systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), generators, fire suppression systems and other building systems. You also operate, monitor, and maintain these systems to the highest standards.

 

You will join a dynamic team that provides 24/7 coverage of the facility, working on a rotating shift schedule.  

 

In addition, you will:

  • monitor electrical, mechanical systems and the Building Automation System (BAS)
  • follow a change management process to plan and implement work
  • assist in the installation, repair and upgrade, to the electrical, and HVAC components of the building systems to ensure uninterrupted operation of the building’s critical systems 
  • apply building expertise to resolve technical problems in collaboration with colleagues and external subject matter experts 
  • maintain collaborative relationships with team members, internal clients and external partners to support operational objectives

 

What you need to succeed
As a Building Systems Specialist, you are a team player, effective communicator, self-starter, change contributor, and innovative problem solver. 

 

You have knowledge of the following:

  • specialized procedures and regulations related to building system maintenance and other user-related administrative procedures (e.g., with IT specialists)
  • general practices during maintenance procedures related to safety
  • multiple building codes, ASHRAE standards, standard practice related to O&M and ability to read and understand drawings
  • hands-on use of computer software such as MS Office, CMMS, Building Automation System

 

Where needed, we will provide site specific training.

 

Nice-to-have 

  • experience working in critical facilities (e.g., Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Medical, or Electrical)
  • experience working with fire suppression systems, UPS, and/or generators systems

 

Your education and experience
Trades Certificate in one of the certified trades (e.g., Electrician, Plumber, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and Systems Mechanic) or high school diploma with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in either: electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment and pumps, chiller systems, etc.

  • Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.
  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $63,380 to $74,560 (job grade 13)
  • The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at  3 to 5% of your base salary. The Bank offers performance pay for those who exceed expectations (7% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
