As the Assistant Director (AD) of Financial Markets Business Architecture you lead all work related to the business architecture direction and decision for the financial markets solutions. Your team provides high quality architectural services to the Markets and Banking Department (MBD) and other stakeholders of the financial markets domain. You promote best architectural practices and methodologies, maintain a strong client relationship with many stakeholders across the Bank, and ensure that upcoming work is always prioritized, planned and resourced optimally.
The architectural scope covered by your team includes:
- Financial markets solutions used by MBD: BCAS, Findur, MDM, SBMS, CMS, TMS, and BoC Connect.
- Support for policy work affecting the financial market operations (processes and solutions)
What you will do
You collaborate closely with the AD of Banking Operations Business Architecture to ensure that workplans spanning the whole portfolio are always current with a 3-year horizon. Through this collaboration you also align the architecture vision and practices between the financial markets and banking operations.
You establish the team’s priorities and ensure it delivers on its mandate. This includes planning the evolution of the business processes and system changes in alignment with other MBD teams.
You are an active contributor to the delivery of the team’s work while providing them with coaching and supporting their professional development.
In addition, you will:
- Align Financial Markets business strategy with key partners to ensure that Product roadmaps are aligned to common intentions.
- Plan the systems and processes that will be necessary to support the business in the future.
- Provide input to portfolio and departmental budgeting and planning – yearly ententes, medium-term direction and 10-year vision.
- Monitor deliverables to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
What you need to succeed

Your skill in recognizing opportunities for leveraging AI enables you to align technology solutions with business goals, driving innovation and targeted improvements. You consistently lead initiatives for continuous improvement, working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners. Your excellent communication skills allow you to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable messages. Additionally, you have demonstrated success in leading highly motivated agile teams, which further supports your capacity to deliver results and contribute meaningfully to the organization’s objectives.
Nice-to-have
- Experience in design and implementation of changes that support the evolution of a solution over multiple years.
- Knowledge of the Bank’s Financial Markets solutions (e.g. Findur, MDM, BCAS, SBMS, CMS and TMS).
Your education and experience
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems analysis, commerce or a related field of study with 8 years of related work experience, or a master’s degree in computer science or an MBA with 5 years of Experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). If a qualified candidate who meets the language requirement of the position is not found, a qualified candidate who does not meet the language requirement may be considered. Hybrid Work Model
The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a portion of each month as part of the Bank’s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of 12 days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $153,721 to $180,848 (job grade 19)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (5%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
