Assistant Director, ServiceNow Platform

About the position
Reporting to the Director of the Corporate Administration (CA) Portfolio, the Assistant Director of the ServiceNow Platform is responsible for planning, organizing and managing staff, product and workload to ensure the stable operation and improvement of the ServiceNow platform used within the Bank.

 

This role provides multiple type of knowledges around Software Development, Quality Assurance practices, Platform Operations and Product Line Management leadership for the ongoing evolution of ServiceNow solutions used within the Bank. The work requires the ownership of the platform from creation of the roadmap, the development approaches, integration of new ServiceNow modules and their integrations with other systems in order to meeting client requirements.

 

Your future responsibilities
As an Assistant Director, you build relationships with clients and vendors, deliver on strategic initiatives and business objectives and ensure a smooth balance between delivery and operations. You provide input to Directors regarding the appropriate staffing requirements to address the work of the team to deliver to client expectations.  You will be required to develop a deep understanding of customer goals, the value customers derive from the product, and the business capabilities and digital strategies of the business domain. You will also be asked to differentiate products or services that customers prefer while orchestrating a variety of stakeholders to achieve a shared vision of product goals and priorities.

 

You will be asked to work closely with other product teams and clients to convey the product vision, continuously verify that the product fulfills that vision (as measured by customer value and business outcomes) and help the team ensure it is building the right product. This will be managed by maintaining a full product life cycle perspective, and work to balance short-term achievements with long-term goals (such as minimizing technical debt while maximizing resiliency).

 

In addition, you provide guidance to staff and colleagues in the application of best practices to meet operational requirements for this new platform. You ensure that processes and procedures meet or exceed established business norms by analyzing current systems and procedures considering evolving technology and best practices, identifying risks and opportunities, translating this knowledge into improved processes and operations, and recommending revisions to accommodate changing business conditions. 

 

Your education and experience

  • a university degree in computer science, engineering, business administration or other related discipline
  • a minimum of five years of IT-related experience, three of which include leading a large team of IT professionals responsible for developing and supporting enterprise and business applications

or

  • an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

 

Your knowledge and skills 
As a leader, you provide managerial direction and contribute to the leadership of the department by demonstrating a strategic outlook along with inspirational and intellectual leadership, and by coaching others and facilitating their development. You provide leadership, coaching and performance management to direct reports and to an extended team of technology professionals across multiple IT disciplines.

 

You create a healthy work climate for the unit, build employees’ capabilities, support their professional development, and enable them to optimize their contribution. You have excellent communication skills; you adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands; and you plan, organize and manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently within tight time frames while setting and managing client expectations and delivering on commitments.

 

You demonstrate outstanding skills in guiding team members towards the achievement of the organization’s goals and inspire the team with the confidence to make decisions and learn from their decisions.     You take the time and have the skills to understand the relevant capabilities of your team members, by focusing on what needs to be accomplished and delegating to the right people; ensure the objectives and goals are done within the deadlines and at high quality. 

 

You have experience with:

  • Project life cycle including system lifecycle, and continuous service improvement
  • Project management skills including Waterfall Design and Agile
  • Project management of architecture-related projects, delivery and support of automated solutions to meet the business needs of clients
  • Quality Assurance
  • Database architecture 
  • Client engagements and communication

 

Assets 
knowledge of the Bank’s HR and Finance systems and database environments
experience managing the delivery of multiple and concurrent projects involving various technology solutions

 

 

Language requirement
English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $104,600 to $130,800 (job grade 19)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (7 to 10% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (15% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
