We recently engaged leaders from across the Bank to gather their input for a new Cyber Security Strategy. A key part of this role will be to contribute to the execution of the strategy and help refine it based on the real-world experience of your team.

About the position
As part of the Cyber division leadership team, you will be in charge of overseeing the Bank’s cyber security assurance activities, including vulnerability assessment, vulnerability management, penetration testing and application security. This role provides strategic advice and analytic support regarding cyber security testing, threat intelligence, and threat detection. In addition to the day-to-day operations of the Cyber Security Assurance team, the work requires the development of new approaches, standards, methods and tools.


Your future responsibilities
As the Assistant Director, Cyber Security Assurance, you will provide expert knowledge and guidance on matters relating to cyber security assurance activities. You will lead and oversee technical vulnerability research and system risk assessments. As the leader of the team, you create a healthy and exciting work climate for the team by building the team’s capabilities, supporting their professional development, and enabling them to optimize their contribution. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining effective and collaborative business relationships with parties inside and outside of the Bank to enable the team’s work.


Your education and experience

  • university degree in computer science or engineering


and
 

 

  • seven or more years of experience in the information security field, with a concentration on security engineering, assessment, and/or compliance.
  • relevant certifications (e.g CISSP, GIAC)

 
or

 

  • an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered


Assets 
Recent experience leading a team of security testing analysts and working with broad range of business stakeholders to help understand and reduce cyber risk.


Your knowledge and skills 
You are a leader by example and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills which enables you to coach and provide appropriate feedback to your employees.  Your have familiarity with risk assessment and knowledge of penetration testing and vulnerability assessment strategies as well as web application security.  You have demonstrated experience in the following areas: 

  • network and operating system security features (e.g., Kerberos, Windows, Linux)
  • network security technologies (e.g., network firewalls, system hardening)
  • cyber security frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&ACK, CIS CSC, NIST SP 800-53)
  • secure system development methodologies. (e.g., AppSec, DevSecOps) 
     

 

Language requirement
English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $118,400 to $130,747 (job grade 19)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (7 to 10% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (15% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
