Assistant Director, Cyber Architecture

What you will do 
You will oversee the development, promotion and application of the Bank's Cyber architecture to enable the execution and design of successful business strategies.  You will also be responsible for the oversight of the architecture processes and operations to maintain the cyber risk within the Bank’s risk appetite.


Specifically, you will: 

  • Develops operational plans, prioritizes and delegates work to achieve the unit’s annual objectives, assigning resources and ensuring the collaboration of other business and IT stakeholders to meet the defined division, departmental and corporate objectives
  • Provides advice and guidance to others on matters relating to Cyber Architecture 
  • Provides thought leadership in the development and governance of standards and guidelines regarding all aspects of Cyber Security including Cyber Security for cloud deployments
  • Facilitates the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to develop cyber architecture common patterns.
  • Conducts or oversees research and analysis (including cyber risk analysis) to support management decision-making.
  • Creates a healthy work climate for the unit, builds employee capability, supports their professional development, and enables employees to optimize their contribution.  
  • Collaborate extensively with partners in the financial departments to provide guidance on the cyber resiliency of the Canadian financial system


What you need to succeed

  • Expert knowledge of or in:
    • IT architecture principles, approaches and methodologies
    • cyber architecture and design principals.
    • cyber Risk management frameworks
    • the implementation of cyber security controls in cloud environments
  • Familiarity with:
    • basic information management practices.
    • multiple technologies and processing environments.
  • Knowledge of:
    • all components of holistic enterprise architecture.
    • business re-engineering principles and processes.
    • financial models and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, tools and model repositories. 


We are also looking for someone with the ability to communicate complex cyber concepts and risk to the business and who can present information clearly and concisely to any audience.



  • Industry cyber certifications such as: CISSP, CISM, GSEC etc
  • Knowledge of fintech’s


Your education and experience
The position requires a Bachelor`s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or other relevant field as well as 7 to 10 years in a cyber role and 3 to 5 years of experience leading a team of Cyber Specialists. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.

Hybrid Work Model

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $110,200 to $137,700 (job grade 19)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (7 to 10% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (15% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
