The team

By joining the Core Technology Services (CTS) portfolio within the Information Technology Services (ITS) department, you will become a member of a diverse and inclusive workforce, and an important part of a dynamic team with the responsibility of ensuring data flows seamlessly between applications. Whether we are delivering services for staff working on the next generation currency note design & digital currencies, maintaining an infrastructure that can support 2,500 staff working remote, or helping to host some of Canada’s most important Payment Systems (Lynx), you will find yourself challenged in new ways every day.


Further, you will have the full support of your leader and team to progress your career through the Bank’s customizable Learning & Development programs across various domains including tools, frameworks, and certifications.


What you will do

As an Application Integration Specialist, you will provide level 2 ongoing technical support, maintenance, and improvement to the Bank’s current environments.


More specifically, you will:

  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and support the creation of applications and scripts to ensure data flows seamlessly between critical, mission critial, or standard applications
  • Provide direct support through a ticketing system to application owners, developers, and related internal and external teams.
  • Use your proactive mindset and initiative to continually look for ways to improve performance, quality, and efficiency.
  • Create thorough and detailed documentation of all changes, upgrades, procedures, user/vendor interactions, and root cause analysis.


What you need to succeed

You are proactive with the ability to take ownership in helping resolve technical challenges while communicating effectively and collaborating across diverse product and software development teamsYou also possess the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and perform multiple tasks concurrently with strong relationships skills.


In addition, you have:

  • Experience providing 2nd level technical support including performance and capacity monitoring for critical servers.
  • Experience with the design & build of APIs and integrations (preferably using Oracle Service bus, MuleSoft, IBM integration bus, and/or Tibco)
  • Experience with standards-based web services access protocol (API, Web-Services, Message oriented integration & streaming concepts, technologies as well as various integration patterns using SOAP/REST protocols).
  • Advanced knowledge of web service standards such as SOAP, REST, XML, WSDL, XSD, XQuery, XSLT, and JSON.



  • Experience with both Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Knowledge in one or more cloud environments (Azure, AWS,  etc.)
  • Experience with:
    • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, ArgoCD).
    • Version control systems like Git and SVN.
    • Messaging systems like JMS and Red Hat AMQ.
    • DataPower gateway.


Your education and experience

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Additional information

Bank offers flexible work hours, and the nature of this work will require some on-call work (as a rotation within the team) as well as potential overtime hours.

Hybrid Work Model #LI-Hybrid

The Bank is conducting a trial of a hybrid working model which provides employees with the flexibility to telework for significant portions of each month. During the trial, employees will only be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person.  For the majority of employees, it is expected that onsite time will range from 5 to 10 days per month, depending on your role.  You are expected to live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office in Calgary.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $81,865 to $108,465 (job grade 17)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (7 to 10% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (15% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
