What You Will Do

This student opportunity provides hands-on exposure to Currency Operations within the Montreal Agency Operations Centre (MAOC). The team supports the safe, secure, and timely handling of banknotes to meet public demand across Canada, operating in a secure environment with high accountability standards.

 

As a Student, Currency Operations, you will work alongside experienced operational staff to support day-to-day currency processing activities while learning how national-scale operations manage risk, quality, and volume variability in a highly automated setting.

 

With guidance and training, you will:

  • Assist with banknote shipping, receiving, processing, and reconciliation activities
  • Enter and verify data in operational systems to support real-time operational decisions
  • Follow custody, control, and security procedures in a high-accountability environment
  • Work safely in a highly automated, robotics-driven operational facility
  • Support the documentation or improvement of operational processes
  • Contribute to basic analysis tied to real operational decisions

 

What you need to succeed

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, structured environment
  • Comfort performing physical tasks (standing for extended periods; lifting parcels up to ~24 kg)

 

Your education and experience

To qualify, you need to be currently enrolled as a student in a related field at a college or university (undergraduate level). Additionally, you must be returning to school in the next academic term.

Language requirement
The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. Although the position language requirement is English or French essential, we do encourage everyone to improve their second language proficiency for future career growth and to contribute towards fostering a bilingual environment.
