What you will do
As a Senior Administrator specializing in Windows servers, you will provide level 2 ongoing technical support, maintenance, and improvement to the Bank’s current environments. You will help us support and evolve our "Software Defined Data Centre", built on highly scalable hyper-converged systems of storage, network, security, compute, all enabled through code. 

 

More specifically, you will also:

  • Provides direct support through a ticketing system to application owners, developers, and related internal and external teams.
  • Simply fixing the problem isn’t enough; using your proactive mindset and initiative, you’ll continually look for ways to improve performance, quality and efficiency.
  • Manage our SaaS (software as a service) applications/services such as SAP, ServiceNow and Office 365.
  • Create thorough and detailed documentation of all changes, upgrades, procedures, user/vendor interactions, and root cause analysis.
  • Mentor and provide direction and guidance to junior analysts.

 

NOTE: The positions could be filled in either our Ottawa or Calgary offices.

 

What you need to succeed
You bring an advanced understanding of Windows servers and Active Directory support, taking ownership of helping resolve technical challenges. You also have experience in performance and capacity monitoring for critical servers. You possess the ability to rank tasks per priority, meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks concurrently with strong relationships skills. 

 

In addition, you have:

  • Experience in:
    • developing and supporting IAC (Infrastructure as Code) with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Azure, etc.
    • a scripting language, such as PowerShell or Python and in creating automation scripts, deploying orchestration and automation processes and products.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server systems with solid abilities in administering Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft SCCM.
  • Strong technical leadership, teamwork, negotiating and technical decision-making skills needed to support a 24/7/365, multi-tiered large-scale highly isolated production environment.
  • Understanding about DevOps culture, methodologies, coding and automation 

 

Nice-to-have 

  • Experience with or in:
    • Azure DevOps CI/CD Pipeline builds, asset (VM) builds/updates, Azure cloud build/configuration. 
    • enterprise level NetApp and/or storage systems (SAN/NAS/iSCSI/NFS/De-dupe/Compression).
    • Disaster Recovery planning and in system failover testing.

 

Your education and experience
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years supporting critical applications in a hybrid environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • You will work remotely from any location within Canada while the Bank operates under mandatory telework. Flexibility for remote work for the duration of the term may be granted.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $85,100 to $106,400 (job grade 17)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (7 to 10% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (15% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
