Business Systems Analyst

About the position
The Data and Statistics Office (DSO) is part of the Corporate Services (CS) Department and ensures that economists and researchers in the monetary policy and financial system departments have easy access to accurate, coherent, relevant, timely and interpretable data, as well as the information technology (IT) tools required to effectively exploit the data.

The Bank is seeking a Business Systems Analyst who will provide business and systems analysis, software testing and application support on projects, enhancements and operations related to its information systems.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Analytic Environment Business Support, you will collaborate with business partners and colleagues to identify user requirements, perform business process and systems analysis activities, contribute to the development, enhancement and support of systems that are used in the core business functions within the Analytic Environment.

 

Your future responsibilities

  • lead the deployment and upgrade of econometric tools and components used in the Analytic Environment
  • conduct functional testing
  • lead user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • manage an inventory of software and software licenses used in the Analytic Environment
  • prepare software installations instructions for Information Technology Services (ITS)
  • contribute to the development, enhancement and support of systems that are used in the core business functions
  • work with ITS to schedule and approve changes to production
  • send communiqués related to scheduled maintenance and changes to production to users in the Analytic environment
  • maintain collaborative relations with internal clients and external counterparts to support operational objectives
  • resolve “how-to” questions related to econometric tools and platforms
  • participate in projects and provide support to ensure issues, risks, and changes to Analytic Environment are managed effectively

 

Your education and experience

  • bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in at least one of the following disciplines: information technology, finance, statistics or business systems analysis

 

or

 

  • an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

 

Assets

  • familiarity with analytic tools, e.g., MATLAB, Python, R Language, FAME
  • Business Analysis certification through a recognized learning organization

 
Your knowledge and skills
We are looking for an effective communicator who can write business impact analyses based on client needs and requirements, has strong interpersonal skills and can work independently and in a team environment.

 

You will put your problem-solving skills to work by troubleshooting system issues and questions, gathering information, resolving discrepancies in information, discerning relevant data and making sound decisions when giving advice or making recommendations.

 

Planning and organization skills are required to plan, set priorities and monitor projects and initiatives, ensure follow-through, and deliver quality work outputs on time.

You should have a good understanding of the fundamentals of computer systems and the IT methodology used in client server environments and structured methodology and the system development life cycle.

 

Language requirement
English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $77,800 to $91,400 (job grade 16)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (5 to 7% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (10% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
